His motivation stems from a fundamental belief that every resident deserves a seat at the table and every tax dollar should serve the common good.

Dedicated to the Blue Mountains
A Lifelong Commitment to Community and Fairness
Sean McMurray has called The Blue Mountains home for the past 6 years. He grew up in a small town in Southern Ontario and spent weekends early on with his parents, Bill and Elaine. He moved back to Thornbury from Owen Sound to help his aging dad, and he shared a home with him until his passing in 2025. Sean's passion for community was instilled in him by both his parents, who were very active in their communities.
Since 2016, Sean has been an integral force with the Canadian Mental Health Association, serving as Board Chair from its inception in 2018 until 2025. He now serves as past chair, sharing his experience with those who are new to the board. He has been involved with other community projects, including the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound, where he served as Vice President; a breakfast club volunteer at Dufferin School; and he has coached all of his children in soccer and also refereed high school football to be closer to his son. He continues to support the Salvation Army Christmas Kettles, where he has volunteered now for 20 years. He considers the Bruce Trail and the Niagara Escarpment pillars of the community and fosters a deep appreciation for their unique presence.
He is supported by his partner Jen, their blended family of 5 children, all at different ages and in different communities in Ontario and BC and one goofy Bernese Mountain Dog.
He has owned and operated his IT/Telecom Brokerage, aptly named Blue Mountains Communications, where he helps small businesses across the Georgian Triangle move strategically into emerging technology.
His love for the outdoors is shared by him and his family, who enjoy camping, kayaking, hiking, and, of course, 40-plus days on the hills of Blue Mountain.
With a background in community advocacy and a deep understanding of local fiscal challenges, Sean is running for Town Council to ensure that our budget remains transparent and responsible. His motivation stems from a genuine desire to preserve the natural beauty of our town while fostering an environment where small businesses and town employees can truly thrive.
